Red Weed. Low maintenance. Thrives on neglect.
The War of the Worlds · 1898
A seed packet for the plant the invaders brought with them. A skull overgrown with red weed, the variety name in red, and the growing notes: sow once, any depth, spacing not required, germination 100%. The artwork is genuinely antique: Henrique Alvim Corrêa's illustrations for the 1906 Brussels edition of H. G. Wells's The War of the Worlds, long in the public domain. We restore the scans, build the composition and set the type in-house. Every design in this shop is our own original composition built from authentic vintage artwork. • Printed in dark ink with red on the Comfort Colors 1717, a heavyweight garment-dyed 100% ring-spun cotton tee • Colors: Ivory, White, Grey, Butter, Mustard, Chalky Mint, Island Reef, Light Green, Chambray, Lagoon Blue, Blossom, Neon Pink, Orchid, or Watermelon (100% ring-spun cotton, garment-dyed; no heathers) • Unisex sizes S to 2XL, true to size; see the size chart in the photos
