Hansel u. Gretel. est. 1812
Hänsel und Gretel (Kinder- und Hausmärchen, KHM 15) · 1812
The oldest shop sign in the forest. Hand-drawn "Hansel u. Gretel" lettering from a 19th-century German Grimm edition over EST. 1812 — the year the Brothers Grimm first published the tale — with the numerals cut straight out of the original engraving, so the witch herself peers from inside the date. The artwork is genuinely antique: Ludwig Richter's classic Hansel and Gretel wood engraving (the witch at her gingerbread door, the children at the fence) and Hermann Vogel's hand-drawn story-title lettering, both from 19th-century German editions of the Brothers Grimm and both long in the public domain. We restore the scans, cut the compositions, and set the type in-house — every design in this shop is our own original composition built from authentic vintage artwork. • Chalk-cream ink on the Comfort Colors 1717, a heavyweight garment-dyed 100% ring-spun cotton tee • Colors: Black, Pepper, Graphite, Navy, Sapphire, Blue Jean, Blue Spruce, Moss, Espresso, Chili, Crimson, Berry, Violet, or Red (100% ring-spun cotton, garment-dyed; no heathers) • Unisex sizes S–2XL — true to size; see the size chart in the photos
